DIPLOMA PROGRAM
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Diploma program is: 1. to train men and
women to become pastors/priests and other church leaders for the Presbyterian
Church of Vanuatu, COM and other churches in Vanuatu and the Pacific region. 2. to prepare men and
women to provide Christian leadership in the church and the community through
sound and relevant teaching of GodÕs word; through compassionate pastoral care;
through their example in godly living, evangelism and care for the needy;
through their ability to work within the structures of the church; through the
efficient administration of their responsibilities; and through their
involvement in the mission of the church. 3. to equip men and
women to be able to encourage and develop gifts of ministry in others and train
them to be faithful disciples of Christ who will undertake the various
ministries necessary for the good health and up-building of ChristÕs church. 4. to stimulate
reflection on and application of Biblical principles for issues of life and
faith in a Pacific context. The Diploma program, while aiming to
achieve a suitable level of academic excellence, also aims to develop within
the students spiritual maturity; willingness to learn; ability to relate GodÕs
word to people at all levels of the community; ability to make use of local
resources; self motivation; ability to work with others and compassion for
those who are lost without Christ. THIRD YEAR OF DIPLOMA PROGRAM Diploma students study at Talua for
years 1, 2, and 4. For their third
year, the Diploma students are assigned to full time ministry. OUTLINE

Hebrew D4 CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
PURPOSE
The Purpose of the Certificate program is: 1. To train men and
women to become lay workers for the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu and other
churches in Vanuatu and the Pacific region so that they can take up particular
ministries such as Christian Education, Evangelism, ChildrenÕs Ministry, Youth
Work, Ministry among women and Ministry among men. 2. To prepare men and
women to provide Christian leadership in the church and the community through
sound and relevant teaching of GodÕs word; through compassionate pastoral care;
through their example in godly living, evangelism and care for the needy; through
their ability to work under the authority of and alongside of church leaders. 3. To equip men and
women to be able to encourage and develop gifts of ministry in others and train
them to be faithful disciples of Christ who will undertake the various ministries
necessary for the good health and up-building of ChristÕs Church. 4. To stimulate
reflection on and application of Biblical principles for issues of life and
faith in a Pacific context. The Certificate program, while aiming to
achieve a suitable level of academic excellence, should also aim to develop

The WomenÕs Program is for the wives of
students who are enrolled at Talua.
The courses offered in the program include Biblical Studies, Theology,
Christian Education, Administration and Leadership, Practical Skills, Family
life, Food and Nutrition and Home and child care. The students are awarded a certificate for their studies at
the completion of their two or three year course. Some of the women in the WomenÕs Program
may want to take the opportunity to study in the Certificate Program if they
have had a sufficient educational background to enable them to cope with this
level of study. These women will be encouraged to undertake such studies and
may do so in two ways. 1. They may undertake the full Certificate Program and so graduate with
the Certificate in Theology. 2. They may take one or two subjects each term in the Certificate
Program along with their studies in the WomenÕs Program. They will graduate
with the WomenÕs Program Certificate. AIMS
The aims of the WomenÕs Program are - 1.
To help women to gain biblical knowledge of God, humanity and creation,
and how they can relate this knowledge in worship and in their everyday lives. 2.
To help women to understand the doctrines of God, humanity
and salvation. 3.
To help women in their personal growth to discover their self-identities
and gifts. 4.
To enable women to become effective leaders in the church and society. 5.
To enable women to acquire and develop practical skills such as cooking,
sewing, home management, health care and handicrafts. CURRICULUM Talua WomenÕs Program follows the curriculum as outlined below. There are classes in the mornings from
Monday to Friday, and home management on Monday and Friday afternoons. Tuesday afternoon is choir singing,
Wednesday afternoon is practical cooking and Thursday afternoon is sport. OUTLINE
